Story

I’m making a difference by fundraising for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).

I’m doing this by hosting a Feast for Freedom to provide people seeking asylum with access to the essential services they need to rebuild their lives in Australia.

This is a meal that makes a difference, and I’m inspired by the special recipes gifted by refugees that are taken from their own cultural traditions. Every dollar I raise will go to the ASRC so they can provide essential food, housing and health services to refugees and people seeking asylum.

Please make a donation to help me reach this goal. Donations $2 and more are tax-deductible.

Thank you.

Fabulous Feast with Friends

Saturday 18th Apr
Writing this the morning after our feast. (Recognize the profile pic?!) When I've been reflecting, I've thought about two sayings in particular - "The hostess with the mostess" and "Me casa es tu casa".

I fully acknowledge and joked many times about not being the most practiced hostess. I've always thought of that expression as one of high praise for someone whose hostessing skills make everything look effortless. They have everything covered, are super organized, no one else has to lift a finger or do anything other than relax and enjoy. So umm... That's not me! But in rethinking it, I feel like I DO have the most - the most helpful, thoughtful, collaborative, generous, kind-hearted, capable, considerate, most wonderful guests! So I actually AM a hostess with the mostess, thanks to you 😊

The other saying "Me casa es tu casa" (my home is your home) came to mind so many times as you folks found what you needed and helped yourselves. I loved so much that people felt comfortable enough to do that. How lucky I am to have you to relax and share such beautiful time with. Thank you.

And of course how lucky we all are to have comfortable homes in this country, the right to work, money to buy food, freedom to be ourselves and live how we choose. The Feast for Freedom is about acknowledging the work of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in supporting others who do not have these privileges. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so either through this page or through the ASRC website. Thank you again my friends for a wonderful experience.

Love, Kirsten (hostess with the most awesome friends) xo
