Jols & JJ's Feast for Freedom

Why we do this:

With so much instability and conflict in the world right now, I’ve been reflecting on how fortunate we are to live where we do. Having safety, opportunity and the ability to build a life here is something many people are still searching for.

Becoming an Australian citizen recently has made that even more meaningful for me. It’s reminded me that being part of a community also means helping create opportunities for others who are starting again.

That’s why we're hosting a Feast for Freedom and raising funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

I’ll be bringing people together around the table and cooking a meal while raising money to support people seeking asylum as they rebuild their lives in Australia.

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. For example:

• $30 can help provide warm community meals so people seeking asylum can share a meal in a welcoming environment.

• $68 can help cover the cost of medical appointments and medications so families have the healthcare they need.

• $105 can help provide crisis accommodation for a family at risk of homelessness.

• $157 can go towards stocking foodbanks so families have access to groceries including fresh produce and other essentials.

Whatever you feel comfortable giving will help people seeking asylum access the support they need. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.
