Empowering Women and Refugees Feast

Share my page

We are a group of women who seek to provide support and assistance for others while sharing friendship and support for each other

I’m making a difference fundraising for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).

I’m doing this by hosting a Feast for Freedom to provide people seeking asylum with access to the essential services they need to rebuild their lives in Australia.

This is a meal that makes a difference and I’m inspired by the special recipes gifted by refugees that are taken from their own cultural traditions. Every dollar I raise will go to the ASRC so they can provide essential food, housing and health services to refugees and people seeking asylum.

Please make a donation to help me reach this goal.

Thank you.

Our Feast

Monday 7th Apr
Our group of friends were joined by additional guests Sunday 6 April and enjoyed great company, interesting and different foods. We used the Discussion Cards to spark some conversations which proved very informative. Five of our group of nine attendees were born overseas and mostly moved to Australia as children. One had come as a refugee. One is currently an international student at university. We made some dishes from the recipes provided or some people made some favourites from homelands or from friends. We held a small raffle which included the tea towel and balm that was included in the pack.
Everyone appeared to enjoy the Feast and were pleased to learn more about ASRC. We are thinking of doing this again next year.
