Imagine a single dish, a familiar scent, that instantly bridges the gap between a lost homeland and a new, uncertain future. For those seeking asylum, these aren't just meals; they're fragments of identity, threads of continuity. My name is Alren, and my partner Riya and I are hosting "A Taste of Home" to support the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).

We often hear the numbers, but rarely the human stories. The mother, carrying a worn recipe book, a tangible link to her past. The child, longing for the spices of their former life, a taste of comfort in a world turned upside down. These are the individuals the ASRC supports – people who have sacrificed everything for safety.

Witnessing the ASRC's work, it's clear they provide far more than sustenance. They offer dignity, community, and a semblance of normalcy in the face of immense upheaval. 🍲🤝
